Check the top 25 at Amazon. The top 10 includes 8 laptops and no netbooks. A few years ago the top 25 were all netbooks.
All this fad did was to force laptops to be priced lower which hurt everybody except Apple. With the iPad Apple gets many of those customers who simply wanted a smaller footprint.

The media and bloggers were all but demanding a netbook from Apple. I never really understood the appeal. Apple seemed to be the only company that wasn’t stupid enough to kill their margins building that junk.
