Hey dudes, what are the next catalysts for the Company and its stock? I see in the forseeable future – next iPod Touch revision, next AppleTV revision, iAds, the North Carolina Center, Verizon deal, other Chinese Telco deal and the next iPad revision….I would be in complete disbelief if the next Touch did not have a Facetime camera…Steve said 10s of millions of Facetime devices in 2010…for which the clock started on June 24th…I think this will be a hit for the not-old-enough for an iPhone crowd….Thoughts? Cheers!!!

Hey everyone. What are your thoughts with respect to PPS on OpEx and the day after earnings?
I say they pin it at around $260 next Friday and it heads to $280 on July 21. Just a gut feeling. My 2 cents.

It depends. We are right at the edge where markets at three different continents are trying break 2 months long downtrend. If we can break out of this downtrend (Dow needs to beat 10,200), they may try to pin AAPL at option expiration to $280.00. If not, we’ll be glad to see it pinned to $260.00. It all depends on earnings. Google did good today. Alcoa reports on Monday (7/12), that will move markets. But for Apple more important are Intel’s earnings on Tuesday (7/13). If intel beats, we could see nice pop in AAPL’s price.

You can’t view AAPL in isolation. Greater market forces are at work here. If the Dow decides to revisit 8000, AAPL will go under $220, possibly under $200. Yes, it’s crazy but so is the Dow under 8000.

Maybe the pin is in at $250….hope they beat or it’s going to get ugly really fast.

beat what ? consensus ? that trashy $3.07 ? 8% less than last quarter when historically Q3 > Q2 but now you also throw in the iPad ? if they don’t beat … I may consider selling everything and not getting back into the market ever (because it would mean I do not get a damn thing about it)

They will beat EPS easily. They might not beat forward guidance. I suspect they will as analysts are so stupid about Apple’s earning power.
Neither of which guarantees anything regarding the PPS. A key point to remember – since I have been following AAPL, new product announcements and earnings reports can create a short term pop or drop of a few days, but they have never (ever!) managed to reverse a pre-existing trend. If it’s rising, it’ll keep rising within a week or two. If it’s falling, same thing.

I was more worried about unit sales and margins, with respect to what I quoted earlier….we’ll find out soon enough….

Not to mention that I think they can possibly sell every iPad and iPhone they make until the end of December…(looking forward 2 quarters that is)…

mikeinmontreal, you’re exactly right. The iPod Touch is the crossover device for the pre-iphone crowd. My niece has two iTouch’es (as she calls them), one for each kid. They use them to keep all the calendars in sync, plus a lot of things their discovering like iBooks. The iTouch’es have led to purchasing a MacBook for their teen. It is indeed a halo effect.

Apple Reports Third Quarter Results (Press Release)
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/07/20results.html
“It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around, including the most successful product launch in Apple’s history with iPhone 4,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPad is off to a terrific start, more people are buying Macs than ever before, and we have amazing new products still to come this year.”
Emphasis on the last sentence. All the while competition is scrambling to emulate touch screens, and make copies of iPhones and iPads, Apple is working on another disruptive technology in category that is not crowded and none of those unimaginative corporate clowns even think about yet. I have at least two things of which one I do not know how exactly they will do it but they are building that center for something and that something is most probably related to entertainment (Video, TV, Games, Music). Apple needs to get into the living room. Another thing they have all the technology ready for and nobody is doing it, is video telephony. Hook AppleTV to HDTV, put camera on top and have the whole world videoconferencing from their living room. Call it iHome, iLive or iConnect. iBox?
So, I think living room is the next target. Apple will definitely go for interconnected universe. You will be able to talk to your kids from your iPad from the road and they will see you in living room on their HDTV. Apple will go for the whole box, including the screen. So next ones in line to worry should be Sony and Phillips. That’s my take on it.

nice spculation consh … : a webcam as an integrat part of the iTV …
The real catalyst is a simply a PR on iP4 sales that would confirm a successful ramp up … suggesting sales of about 4M per month … This by itself would drive AAPL in no time to 265 within 48 Hours of such a PR …
In as much as I love the iPodTouch it is not stock mover, more like AAPL’s secret weapon to expand at a huge rate the iOs platform with a 150M by January 2010…
I believe that AAPL in the Den is premature given the lukewarm reception of Media companies to AAPL subscription plans and 0.99 shows… But it can get there gradually with conference TV and games plus conventional IPTV … add to that album photo sharing
