All product releases timed to beat quarter numbers. They have been coming at quarter endings. This one is a month early. Think about it. Product releases is better than back dating for stock price control

The iPad release (first week of the quarter), the iMac updates (August 13), and new Mac Pro (July 27) didn’t come out at the quarter endings, so I am uncertain by what you include in “all product releases.”

Given the buy a mac get a free iPod offer expiring by Sep 7, while the event is on the Sep 1 , your pessimistic view might have some value… However holding the event on Sep 1, does not preclude making those new iPod Touch available by Sep 8 or later …
Your pessimistic view may also have some value given the chronicle shortages of iP4′s, and now of iP 3gs, in the absence of any PR about iP4′s sales … The magic number is 11.5 M iPhones unless a surprise higher number of iPads (or a stampede on iPodTouch with or without a 3g, expect the same huge upgrade demand for even just a camera with the iPod T)
The Media event may clarify where Apple stands with respect to the iP4′s or its iOS platform …

Caruso – I think SDIO is trolling. If Apple were really timing their releases “to beat quarter numbers” they wouldn’t have released the iPhone 4 3 days from the end of the quarter. To beat quarter numbers they would have waited until the end of the quarter to make this quarter look even better!
“Think about it. Product releases is better than back dating for stock price control”
Even when we add your update so it reads:
“Think about it. Product releases are better than back dating for stock price control”
It still makes no sense. You are appearing to attempt to argue that the old, unproven, rumor about the backdating of Apple shares is usurped by some kind of product release schedule to manipulate the stock price.
Well, looky here, irrespective of “your opinion” let’s see where Apple’s sales for the iPad and the iPhone are on Wednesday. I think Apple are looking at, at least, two awesome quarters going forward. This is nothing to do with product releases but everything to do with having the best products in the areas considered.
SDIO you really really, really, need to try harder going forward.

Don’t for get about actual COMPUTER sales. iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac laptops seem to be having a great quarter. Tied to the story of government purchasing of Macs, I’ve a feeling that they’ll (again) blow out the quarter.
Now we just have to see if “the market” likes that or not…

I’m with Ratty, SJ doesn’t sit around thinking about how Apple can beef up quarter results. Apple has pushed the mobile and tablet industries into overdrive through innovation. That innovation is what drives those great quarters.

In since 1976. Been on all the rides. Notice ship of iTV is 30 September. If they need or do not need numbers shipments will straddle quarter date. Ship dat rules and this indicates that quarter numbers are made and the beating number will be adjusted accordingly. Nice to watch you newbies muddle through.
